Teen Talk Training - Winter 2021

Description:

Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles (JBBBSLA) and Teen Line developed a mobile phone app called Teen Talk. Teen Talk is a FREE anonymous iPhone app where teens can get support from trained teens and learn what other teens are dealing with. High school students can join the Teen Talk Training program to learn how to provide social and emotional support to their peers.

The Teen Talk Training is a 50 hour training where participants will learn the essential tools to successfully support their peers. Due to COVID-19, the Winter 2021 Training will be VIRTUAL and take place via Zoom. Training will be held on Saturdays from 1:00pm -5:00 pm and begin on Saturday, February 27th. Please confirm that the following dates work with your schedule - 2/27, 3/6, 3/13, 3/20, 3/27, 4/3, 4/10, 4/17, 4/24, 5/1. Since the Winter training will be held online, we are allowing teens from around the West Coast to apply. Teens must live within Pacific Time (California, Washington, Oregon, and Nevada).

Once trained, teens will sign up for 2.5 hour weekly evening shifts (between 5:00-10:00 pm PT) where they can provide support at home from the Teen Talk computer dashboard. Participants will receive community service hours for both the training and weekly shifts.

We are currently accepting applications from teens (Grades 9-11) who would like to be trained to provide peer support to other teens on the app. All applications must be submitted by 1:00 pm on Wednesday, February 17th.  If invited, Interviews will be held on Saturday, February 20th.

**Please note, due to the nature of the training, we do not allow siblings to participate in the same cohort. If you have any questions regarding this matter, please email ltzalka@jbbbsla.org.**

Please complete the application below. Responses will be confidential. Thank you for your interest, and we look forward to reviewing your application.
